He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilson Johnson and Elsie Raleigh Johnson; and his sisters, Juanita DeHaven and Effie Faye Collins. He is survived by: his wife Edith Johnson; his children, James David Gilbert (Liz), Johnny Darrel Johnson (Penny), Leroy Johnson (Joyce), Lavonda Gail "Tootsie" Johnson and Connie Sue Johnson McIntosh (Michael); his sisters, Mary Watts, Brenda Johnson and Wanda White; and his grandchildren, Jamey Jo, James Ray, Andy, Colton, Dustin, Monica, Megan, Kenzie, Tyler, Matthew and Mason. He is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23rd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Breathitt Funeral Home (409 KY-15, Jackson, KY 41339). A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
