He was predeceased by: his mother Helen Haynes Chinn; and his brother Billy Jones. He is survived by: his wife Mary Rollie Carden Shilts; his sons, Jerry Shilts of Hardinsburg, Barry Shilts of Brandenburg and Todd Shilts (Amanda) of Webster; his grandchildren, Dean Shilts (Marah), Morgan Shilts (Caitlin), Eleanor Tarr (Joe), Matthew Shilts, Jacob Shilts, Madeline Shilts and Caroline Shilts; his great grandchildren, Beckham Shilts and Carden Tarr; and his brother Melvin Shilts.

Due to COVID-19 precaution, the funeral service will be private and for the family only.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that expressions of sympathy be sent to Irvington United Methodist Church P.O. Box 236, Irvington, KY, 40146.
