He is survived by: his wife Nora Lee Smyth Abney; his children, Elizabeth Hughes (James Hood) and Barry Abney (Sonya); his grandchildren, Christopher Abney, Deanna Abney, Sarah Pasley (Justin), Jerrica Everman (Brandon) and Timara Crabtree (Daniel); and his nephew Roy Dunaway. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren.
