She was predeceased by: her parents, Jake Bowens and Clearinda Bowens; and her siblings, Elmer Wiley, Edgar Bowens and Estelle Maynard.

She is survived by: her sisters, Lucy Kirk, Florence Reed and Edna Fletcher; and her children, Ralph Johnson (Stephanie), David Chaffins, Immanul Johnson, Rebecca Newsome (Greg) and Lisa Maynard.
