He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Tipton and Grace Tipton (Blackburn); his siblings, John "Ribe" Tipton, Verlie Wilson, Barbara Castle and Beverly Horn; and his grandson Owen Childers.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Ann Tipton (Copley) of Inez, KY; his children, Bryan Richard Tipton of Prestonsburg, KY and Tanya Jackson (Walter) of Debord, KY; his brother Eddie Tipton (Peanut) of Columbus, OH; his daughter-in-law Jamie Belcher; and his grandchildren, Chase Childers, Kennedi Tipton, Nicholas Jackson, Justin Jackson (Alice), William Jackson, Austin Jackson, Ashlee Belcher and Hannah Belcher. He is also survived by great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
