He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Powell and Gertrude Powell; and his sister Lovona Powell. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Irene Alsip Powell; his sons, Steven J. Powell (Danita), Larry D. Powell (Sheri), Daniel B. Powell (Diana) and Gregory D. Powell (Yna); and his sister Carolyn Kinman. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, and twenty-seven great grandchildren.
