He was predeceased by: his former wife Virginia Lee Pettit; his brother Linden Pettit; and his parents, Kirtley Pettit and Alma Vanarsdall Pettit. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Payne Chapman Pettit; his children, Steve Pettit (Ella), Robin Morrison and Suzanne Piper-Baird (Jim); and his stepchildren, Jennifer Rimer (Mike), Rivers Chapman (Karen), Julie Schreiber (Todd) and Chad Chapman (Megan). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 4th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home - Independence (11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 4th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home (11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051).
