He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Edward Deaton and Ada Durbin Deaton; his siblings, Ricky Deaton and Karen Deaton; his wife Diana Lynn Bushue Deaton; his children, John Deaton (Jessica Work), Melissa Cross (Chris), Elizabeth Martin (Dan), Lucas Deaton (Lauren) and Will Deaton (Caitlan); his sisters, Dedra Lutes (Tim) and Lisa Deaton; and his grandchildren, Ava Work-Deaton, Alexander Work-Deaton, Norah Cross and Henry Cross.
