He was predeceased by: his brothers, David Smith and Pete Smith Sr.. He is survived by: his children, Billie Smith (Phillip) and Lou Ann Smith; his granddaughters, Madison Vanover and Stevie Smith (Marilyn Smith); his siblings, Lou Ann Duvall, Barbara Smith, Mary Fulton, Luther "Bubby" Smith Jr. (Kim), Debora Young and Christy Smith-Steward (Ted); and his sister-in-law Linda Smith. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Smith family.
