He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Simpson and Bertha Brown Simpson; his son Michael Scott Simpson; and his sisters, Wanda Chappell and Reba Carol Simpson.
He is survived by: his wife Patra Simpson of Hyden; his children, Johnathan Simpson of Charlotte, Brandon Bailey (Mattia) of Knott County, Jesse Bowling, Terra of Hazard and Alanna McMickin of Hueyville, Alabama.; and his siblings, John Harold Simpson (Judy) of Asher, George Allen Simpson and Brenda Brock of London, Kentucky..
