He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnie Coontz and Ola Anderson Coontz; his siblings, Johnie "Buddy" Coontz, Ola Coontz, Mary Ann Wray and Dot Johnson; and his great grandchild Alex Coomer.
He is survived by: his wife Paula Price Coontz; his children, Robert Gene Coontz, II (Rhonda) of Casey County, Mark Coontz of Chattanooga, Kim Crowe (Danny) of Chattanooga, Carla Coomer (Doug) of Somerset, Michelle Cooke (Scott) of Chattanooga and Robyn Cook (Chris) of Danville; and his sister Glenda Withrow (Zane). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; and 32 great grandchildren.
