He was predeceased by: his parents, Delbert Poynter and Verla Parker Poynter; his sons, Todd Smith, Jimmy Poynter and Donald Poynter; and his sister Betty Baker.
He is survived by: his wife Veda Bastin Poynter; his daughters, Sharon Cook, Patty Kuhus and Tabitha McClellan; his stepchildren, Tracy Salyers (Larry) and Michael Wayne Smith; and his brothers, Bobby Poynter, Eugene Poynter and Jimmy Poynter. He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Viewing was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home (5590 Hwy 2141, Hustonville, KY 40437). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.
