He was predeceased by: his parents, James Walter "Shorty" Payne and Deatte Larue Wilcox Payne; and his siblings, James "Jimmy" Payne, Mary Kay Clark and Margaret Payne Elie.
He is survived by: his close friend Jose Cabrero; his sisters, Marlene Robin and Shirley Nolen; and his cousin Gail Cave. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
