He was predeceased by: his parents, G. R. Burd and Jean Dilley Coffey; and his brothers, Steve Burd, Terry Burd and Danny Cave.

He is survived by: his wife Kathy Melloan Burd; his son Chris Burd; and his siblings, Russell Burd, Clifford Burd, Sandy Huff, Karen Kerney and Tracey Wright (Bryan).
