He was predeceased by: his parents, John Yates and Annie Brewer Yates; and his siblings, William B. Yates, Arneva Hendrickson and Orene Waller.
He is survived by: his wife Eva Thompson Yates; his children, Denise Curry (Bobby) of Horse Cave, KY, Melissa Yates, Bianca Yates of Louisville, KY and Dr. Carlous Yates; his grandchildren, Zander Yates, Myla Curry, Nevaeh Thomas, Bryant Thomas Jr. and MyKenzie Thomas; his sisters, Naomi Mills, Annie Pearline Mason, Veachel Hendrickson and Emmerline Hardin (Bernard); and his sister-in-law Florine Yates. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews.
The family has chosen to have public services however due to heightened risk of COVID-19 epxosure, the family requests all visitors to please wear a mask.
