He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Henry and Annie Louise Leavell Sr.; his son George Mayes; and his sister Bernice Blaine. He is survived by: his children, Carlos Catlett, L. G. Catlett, Joyce Dean and Daleana Quarles; and his stepson Quinton Quarles. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
