He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Edwin Carson and Elinor Carson; his sons, William Edwards Carson, Jr. and Paul Andrew Carson; and his siblings, Joseph Edwin Carson, Jr. and Olga Jane Carson Floyd.

He is survived by: his children, John Edwin Carson (Diana) of Holiday, FL and Kathi Reed of Hopkinsville, KY; and his grandchildren, Jeremy Reed (Andrea), Jennifer Coogle, Jacqueline Reed, James Reed and Jessica Carson. He is also survived by four great grandchildren.
