He was predeceased by: his parents, John Williams, Sr. and Minnie Bowles; his wife Helen Goodpaster Williams (Sam); his son James Verdenburgh; his sisters, Betty Amburgey, Pauline White and Caroline Woodard; and his grandson Bobby Joe Robertson.
He is survived by: his children, Mike Williams (Dana) of Lexington, KY, Lois Rivera (Roy) of Hope, KY, Teresa Pyles (Steve) of Mt. Sterling, KY and Cheryl Isaacs (Alan) of Jeffersonville, KY; and his siblings, Roy Williams (Phyllis) of Lexington, KY and Sylvia Allen of Mt. Sterling, KY.
