She was predeceased by: her spouse Cecil Gorden Druen; her parents, John H. Thomas and Ollie Mae Thomas (Bush) of Alexandria, Kentucky; and her siblings, Joyce Boden (Thomas) and John F. Thomas of Falmouth, Kentucky..

She is survived by: her children, Thomas Shelton "Shel" Druen (Takako) of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, Johanna Druen of Evansville, Indiana., Virginia, Jake Rusk of Evansville, IN, Laura Rusk of Evansville, IN and Maiyuki Druen; and her sister Peggy Appel (Bob) of Alexandria.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Clara's memory to the American Red Cross or the American Cancer Society.

“This is Nevi Beck (Geneva Reimer). My family and I offer you our condolences. I know that you, Shel and Johanna, were the light of her life. Your being the fine people that you are exemplifies the kind of person that she was. I always admired his tenacity in getting her degree and teaching and all of the things that she did later after retirement. She will be truly missed. I regret that I cannot come down to see you two in person, but I have a wedding that I must attend.”
