He was predeceased by: his sisters, Mattie Bell Sturdivant and Margaret Sturdivant; his grandson Lee Stuart Jackson; and his parents, John Gardner and Birtie Reed Gardner.
He is survived by: his wife Mildred F. Gardner; his daughters, Pam Goatley (Tommie) of Lowes, KY, Deborah Jackson Cruse (Randall) of Pryorsburg, KY and Tammy Gardner of Paducah, KY; his brothers, John Gardner (Janet) of Shelbyville, KY and Fred Gardner (Hazel) of Shelbyville, KY; and his grandchildren, Jason Goatley (Christina), Jody Goatley (Rachel), Jaime Prince (Jeremy), LeeAnn Hutchens (Kelly) and Scott Jackson (Tiffany). He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
