He was predeceased by: his parents, Alex Short and Annie Short (Tade); his daughter Patricia Short; and his siblings, Alvene Poindexter, Kathleen Baxter, Nadine Short and Billy Joe Short.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Ann Short (Hurd); his daughter Amanda Birge (Randy) of Hestand; and his granddaughters, MaKayla Birge and Aleda Smith (Garrett).
