He was predeceased by: his parents, William Mayes and Martha Mayes; and his siblings, Nancy Mayes, Johnny Mayes and Ernie Mayes.
He is survived by: his wife Ada Mayes; his children, Angie Dunn, Melissa Jackson, David Shelton (Karen) and Deray Shelton (Melissa); his siblings, Joyce Mayes, Bobby Mayes (Sharon) and Jimmy Mayes; and his grandchildren, Taylor Shelton, Alexis Dunn, Wade Dunn, Blaine Jackson, Maleigha Shelton, Maelynn Shelton, Jaci Hart and Halley Shelton. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home (629 S Green St, Henderson, KY 42420). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
