He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnnie "Howard" Pleasant, and Leota Pleasant, Sr.; his son Rodney Newman; and his siblings, Eddie Pleasant and Carol Pleasant.
He is survived by: his wife Vera Pleasant; and his children, Lisa Alvey (Greg) of Corydon, KY, Stella Wilhite (David) of Cairo, KY, Lani Yates of Henderson, KY, James Pleasant (Careena) of Corydon, KY, Mark Pleasant (Barbara), Bobbie Newman (Sheri) of Slaughters, KY, Brent Newman of Henderson, KY and Drew Pleasant (Jennifer) of Dixon, TN. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces.
