She was predeceased by: her parents, John Buschelman and Ruth Buschelman; her former husband Louis Merkle; her husband Paul Baute; her stepson Terry Baute; and her sisters, Virginia "Ginny" Buschelman, Ruth "Babe" Grishover, Anna Lee Smith, Elizabeth "Betsy" Hartke and Jacqueline "Jackie" Smith.
She is survived by: her sons, Joe Merkle, Jim Merkle (Karen), Tony Merkle (Donna), Ray Merkle (Juanita) and Tom Merkle (Rose); and her stepchildren, Bob Baute (Donna), Mel Baute (Deb), Jerry Baute (Kathy), Rick Baute (Jan), Gina Merta (Bob) and Paula Owen (Nolan). She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
