With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Garfield Deaton Jr. of Hazard, Kentucky, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 1, 2025 at the age of 72. He was predeceased by: his parents, Garfield Deaton and Carrie Boggs Deaton; his wife Bobbie Ann Deaton; and his siblings, Irene, Mallie, Arlis and Homer Lee.
He is survived by: his son James "Dusty" Deaton (Ashley); his siblings, Garland (Vickie Deaton), Clarence (Karen Deaton), Farris (Lisa Deaton), Doris (Vanessa Deaton), Billy Ray (Teresa Deaton), Romas Deaton of Hazard, Brenda, Dana Feltner of Chavies, Mary Ann, George Henson of Cummings, Georgia, Delphia Stollings of London, Linda Deaton of Hazard, Carol Deaton of Hazard and Valerie Deaton of Hazard; his grandchildren, Timothy Kyle Branson (Tiffany), Dusty Kyle Deaton of Hazard, Hadley Anna-Gail Deaton of Girdler, KY and Kaydence Ande-Grace Deaton of Girdler, KY; his niece Angie Hill; and his close friends, Mark Bonke, Darrell, Delorise Branson, Pam and Dean Neace. He is also survived by niece, nephews, and other relatives & friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home (301 E Main St, Hazard, KY 41701-1922). A funeral service was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
