He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Castle Coots and Gladys Coots; and his son Joshua Castle Coots. He is survived by: his wife Carlene Coots of Viper; his children, Rev. Jeffrey Scott Coots (Shana) and Paula Combs (Lester); his grandchildren, Kristen Combs, John, Mckenzi Bailey, Zachary, Kaleb Coots, Melanie, Blake Combs, Kimberly Dyer, Faith Schiess and Brent; his great grandchildren, Joshua, Avery, Melody, Isaac, Wrenley and Elijah; and his close friend Charles Jackson.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 12th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home (301 E Main St, Hazard, KY 41701). A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 12th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
