He was predeceased by: his father Henry S. Barnes; his wife Margaret Barnes; his close friend Mildred Little; and his brothers, Leon Barnes, Gilbert Barnes and Elmer Barnes.

He is survived by: his sons, Barry Barnes of Rockport, Roger Barnes of Greenville, Leroy Barnes of Rockport, Conard Barnes of Rockport and Tim Barnes of Owensboro; and his sister Lucille Daniels of Louisville. He is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren.
