He was predeceased by: his father Jim Henry. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Margaret Paxton Spinks; his children, Leesa Spinks and Lesley Spinks Tidwell (Jim); his grandchildren, Adriane Davidson (Jay), Shane Vincent (Leesha), Chase Vincent (Carley), Dewayne Tidwell (Traci) and Kristi Goski (Dan); his great grandchildren, Asher, Addyson, Axton Alvey and Abriane Davidson; his grandchildren, Knox, Bowen, Bella Vincent, Ryan, Dani Tidwell, Hunter, Breydan and Kyler Goski; and his siblings, Shirley Eskridge, Jack Spinks (Virginia) and Jan Taylor (Claude).
He was an integral part of establishing the Bill Monroe Foundation and securing money for the renovation of Bill Monroe's Homeplace in Rosine, KY, and promoting Ohio County's place in bluegrass music history.
