He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Hart and Virgie Hart (Atkinson); his son-in-law David Coleman; and his brothers, Marshall Hart and Ralph Hart.
He is survived by: his wife Charlotte Mae Hart (McRay); his children, Teresa Hart Coleman and Merle J. Hart Jr. (Lisa) of Harrodsburg; his sister Geraldine Calvert (Homer) of Frankfort; and his grandchildren, Kristie Lynch (Tara) of Danville, M. J., Amy Richards (Eric) of Houston, TX, Branden Hart (Tess) of Lexington and Rachel Coleman of Harrodsburg. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
