He was predeceased by: his parents, Jess Stanton and Rebecca Sergent Stanton; and his siblings, Marvin, Omar Stanton and Ruby Young.

He is survived by: his sons, Christopher and Robert Stanton of Lafayette, IN; his siblings, Clarence Stanton, Paris Stanton, Margaret Parker and Ester Parker; his friend Tom King; and also Johnny Anderson.
