He was predeceased by: his parents, James Robert and Mary Robinson; his wife Lavon Belcher Robinson; his son James Malcholm Robinson, Jr.; and his sister Dorothy Clutts Moore.

He is survived by: his daughter Tammy Robinson of Harlan; his grandchildren, James Malcholm Robinson, III, Brandt Robinson, Reesa Camille Browning and Delmar Bryce Browning; and his great grandchildren, James Malcholm, IV, Emily, Natalie, Olivia and Loren Harper.
