He was predeceased by: his parents, William David Smiddy and Addie Dean Smiddy; his parents-in-law, Robert Fulston Cloud and Sarah Emeline Thacker Cloud; and his siblings, James Lewis Smiddy, Virgil Paris Smiddy, Opal Irene Smiddy, Wilma Delores Smiddy Helton and Beulah Evelyn Smiddy.
He is survived by: his siblings-in-law, Patsy Doan and Robert Kenneth Cloud; his great-niece Victoria Batten; his nephews, Steven Woodard and Johnny Ray Cloud; his wife Brenda Cloud Smiddy of Harlan, KY.; his sons, David Franklin Smiddy Jr. (Nicky) and Christopher Reid Smiddy of Harlan, KY.; his sisters, Cassie Jemima Wolfhope of New Paris, PA, Jodie Smiddy Batten (Brent) and Shirley Howard of Port Charlotte, FL.; his grandchildren, Cameron Seth Smiddy (Mackenzie) of Harlan, KY, Kolby Bailey of Evarts, KY. and Kayline Elizabeth Bailey of Evarts, KY.; his great grandchildren, Cassidy Burkhart of Evarts, KY and Ashton Grace Smiddy of Harlan, KY.; his siblings-in-law, Gary Cloud of Cawood, KY., Debbie Woodard, Browning Acres, Peggy Greene (Joe) of Grays and Judy Hensley (David) of New Tazwell, TN.; his nieces, Maria Regina Poraczky and Jodie Smiddy Batten; and his close friends, Jason Hyman Farmer, Darrell Smith, Greg Skidmore, Jim Wilson and Reverend Jim Emery.
