He was predeceased by: his father Hurshel Bookmiller Sr.; his wife Jacqueline Smith Bookmiller; his children, Leon and Lerea Bookmiller; and his brothers, John and James Bookmiller.

He is survived by: his son Robert D. Bookmiller (Kathleen); his granddaughters, Ashlea Lyons and Betty Fay Bookmiller; and his great grandchildren, John, Wyatt Lyons, Deliah Bookmiller, Edward, Bruce, Oliver, McKenzie, Pandora, Christine Holmes and Micah Johnson.
