He was predeceased by: his father James Allen Matthews; and his brother Barry Matthews. He is survived by: his mother Doris Prather Milton; his children, Tara Embry (James), Tylar Matthews (Ben) and Grace Matthews; his grandchildren, Michaela, Rhyan, Jayden Whelan and Ella Embry; his siblings, Tim Matthews (Scott) and Anne Mullenix (Joe); and his stepmother Judy Matthews.
