He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Eugene Wells and Brooksie Wells Sanders; his brother Bernard Leon Wells; his parents-in-law, James and Naomi Cobb; his son-in-law Keith Dixon; his grandparents, Pearl, Pulaski Wells, Gaylen and Novie Putty; and his siblings-in-law, Linda Cobb, Mary Randolph and Larry Ward.
He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Cobb Wells; his children, Derita Dixon of Greenville, Brooklyn Wells of Greenville and Nelson Wells (Whitney) of Nashville, TN; his grandchildren, Gunnar Dixon (Melanie) and Kenzie Dixon (Luke); his great grandchildren, Brady Tate Dixon, Brindley Kate Gossett and Motlee Ann Dixon; his siblings-in-law, Henry Cobb (Janet), William Cobb (Benita), Richard Cobb (Daphne), Cornelius Cobb (Tina), Allen Cobb (Donna), Brenda Ward and Lou Stuck (Larry); and his uncle Bryan Putty (Margaret).
