With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Arthur Speaks of Grayson, Kentucky, born in Hazard, Kentucky, who passed away on January 14, 2024 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Lewis and Ella Gay Speaks; and his brother Charles Phillip Speaks. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Sanders Speaks; his sons, Jeffery Speaks of Tucson, AZ, James Scott Speaks (Lynette) of Raceland, KY and John Shelton (Cindy) of Ashland; his sisters, Nancy Kaye McClure of Hilton Head, SC and Cindy Hall of Raven, KY; his grandchildren, Derrick Shelton, Ashley Gibson (Shelton), Zach Shelton, Makenzi Murphy (Speaks), Elijah Speaks, Max Shelton and Chloe Shelton; and his great grandchildren, Freya Murphy and Lennox Murphy.
