He was predeceased by: his parents, David "Van" Evans and Eliza Robinson Evans; his wife Ruby Shaffer Evans; his son-in-law Doug Wooten; his siblings, Frankie, Bobby, Pat Evans (Faye), Billy Gene Evans, Eloise Messer (Ernie) and Cloma Jordan; and his brothers-in-law, Freeman Shaffer (Gay), Paul Shaffer, Ronnie Shaffer and Scobie Shaffer.
He is survived by: his daughters, Jami Wooten and Rhea Bretz (Kevin); his grandchildren, Hannah Wooten and Evan Wooten; his sisters, Gretta Adams (Manson), Alma Bowling (Lester) and Edith Jones (James); his siblings-in-law, C. H. Jordan, Laura Ann Evans, Dorothy Evans, Marquetta Shaffer and Aline Shaffer; and his friend Lou Stapleton. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, church family, friends.
