It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Velma J. Shear of Grand Rivers, Kentucky, born in Bluffs, Illinois, who passed away on March 14, 2022, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesse Batley and Mabel Batley (Dimmitt); her husband Francis "Nick" Shear; her brother Charles Batley; her great grandchildren, Van Lindstrom and Jacqueline "Prince" March; and her close friend Harry Marcotte.
She is survived by: her daughters, Linda Ashline of Grand Rivers, KY, Sheila Woods of Joliet, IL, Brenda (Terry Bayston) and Debbie (Bobby Burrus); and her sister Julia Tucker of Dale, IL. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and seventeen great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Mercy Lourdes Hospice in Paducah, KY.
