He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Holmes and Emma Racheal Holmes (Ellis); his daughter Tiffany Martin; and his brother Buell Holmes. He is survived by: his wife Bobbie Kaye Holmes; his children, Timmy Holmes, Tyler Martin and Heather Mitchell (Jay); his grandchildren, Raymond Holmes, Benjamin Holmes, Lilly Tucker, Trevor Mitchell and Julia Mitchell; his nephew Todd Holmes (Karen); his cousin Linda Meadows (Larry); and his close friend Charles Shaw. He is also survived by brothers and sisters, and his AA family of 31 years.
