He is survived by: his children, Dr. John Harold Matthews, Robert Downing Matthews (Jill) and Jeana Ross Kinsman (David); his granddaughter Julia Rae Weinstein (Adam); his great grandchild James Andrew Weinstein; his granddaughter Jessica Ross Smith (Garrett); his great grandchildren, Calloway Emma Smith, Anne Calloway Dacci (Cambridge), Richmond, Caroline Asher Kinsman, Ryan Rhodes and Julia Ross Kinsman; his brother Robert Elliott Matthews (Brenda); his nieces, Anne Grant Underwood (Rollin), Jenny Jean Downing and Kim Katherine Morton (Will); and his nephew Robert Riley Matthews (Kelly). He is also survived by great nieces and nephews and dear friends.
