Gene Basil Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gene Basil of Glasgow, Kentucky, who passed away on June 6, 2023, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Oris Stanford Basil and Nellie Walden Basil; his wife Fannie Rosetta Kerney Basil; his grandson Teddy Ray Shaw; and his siblings, Leroy Basil, Troy Basil, Ray Basil, James Basil, Bertha Matthews, Margie Houchens, Virginia Bunell and Deloris Sexton.

He is survived by: his children, Rita Shaw, Jeffery Basil, Sherry Ballard (Bobby), Tina Shugart (Jimmy), Tracy Matthews (Luke), Devona Smith (David), Eric Bullington (Linda), Jason Simmons (Rekita), Crystal Simmons and Shyanna Bullington; and his grandchildren, Chris Combs, Kara Basil, Casey Basil, Katie Reece and Tiffany Shaw. He is also survived by several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
