He was predeceased by: his parents, Fidel Chapman and Jessie Estes Chapman; his wife Frances Marie Glass Chapman; his granddaughter Stephanie Chapman; his son-in-law Joey Thomason; and his brothers-in-law, Damon Denison and James Hanking.

He is survived by: his children, Steve Chapman (Darlene) and Debbie Wood (Tommy); his grandchildren, Jeff Chapman (Lori), Staci Greer (Brandon), Lauren Hensley (Blake), Billy Thomason (Courtney), Ben Wood, Bradley Wood (Jennifer), Lisa Thomason (Charlie), Brandon Wood (Lynsey), Blake Wood (Fahrie) and Cora Clifford (Nathaniel); and his sisters, Geraldine Denison and Wanda Hanking. He is also survived by seventeen great-grandchildren.
