He was predeceased by: his parents, Eldon Elloyd and Mary Dodd Ellis Thomas; and his father-in-law Clyde Hatcher. He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Hatcher Thomas; his brother Kevin Thomas (Teresa) of Austin; his mother-in-law Helen Hatcher of Glasgow; his brother-in-law Mike Hatcher (Teresa) of Glasgow; his nieces and nephews, Will Thomas (Scarlett) of Austin, Alec Hatcher (Deserae) of Glasgow, Casey Thomas of Bowling Green and Micah Hatcher of Glasgow; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Waylon Clyde Hatcher, Jasper Thomas, Walter Tipton, McKinley Thomas and Avery Binkley.

Family has requested in lieu of flowers donations can be made to T.J. Samson Hospice or to the Haywood Volunteer Fire Department.
