He was predeceased by: his parent Billie Joe Parks; his siblings, Starla Burris and Steve Ponder; his mother Marjorie Ann Treece Parks; and his adoptive parents, John P. Cook (Beverly Marie Cook) and Beverly Marie Cook.
He is survived by: his wife Susan Jo Patton Parks; his sons, Dustin James Parks of Makanda, Illinois and John David Parks (Amanda) of Makanda, Illinois; his siblings, Tedra Miller (Michael) of Tennessee, Lisa Butler of Illinois, Greg Cook (Nancy) of Illinois, Jeff Parks (Jeanie) of California and Alan Parks (Rovina) of Arkansas; and his grandchildren, James Parks, Alexis Starling, Mason Parks and Waylon Parks. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
