He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Burge and Helen Ruth Burge; his brothers, Phillip Stanley, Johnny and Eugene Burge; and his brother-in-law Rick Grinstead.

He is survived by: his wife Diana; his children, Christie Bowlin (Patrick), Jennifer Courtney (Levi) and John Michael Burge (Stephanie Cooper); his grandsons, Pierce Bowlin, Ethan Bowlin, Hayden Brown and Tyler Courtney; his siblings, Ernie of Georgetown, Bobby of Georgetown, Daniel of Georgetown, David of Georgetown, Mark Burge of Georgetown, Pam Fitzpatrick of Lexington and Shiridy Hunt of Georgetown; his siblings-in-law, Debbie Murphy (Gene), Rita Mattingly (Bobby) and Ernie Covington (Renee); and his close friends, Rhonda, Doug Kinder, Pam and Rodney Courtney.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to Bluegrass Care Navigators (Hospice).
