He was predeceased by: his parents, Sidney Hackney and Edna Hackney; and his sister Joyce Miller (Harold). He is survived by: his wife Shelby Jean Southerland Hackney; his children, Tammy Baker (Tim) and Steve McEldred (Tabatha); his grandchildren, Woody McEldred (Paige), Stone McEldred, Shelby Baker and Bobby Baker; his great grandchild Jon Wood McEldred; his brother Danny Hackney (Brenda); his sister-in-law Irene Hackney; his friend Lynn Young; his nephews, Tim, Shannon, John, Joel, Kevin and Adam Hackney; and also, Steve Hockensmith, Tyler, Fawn Taylor, Jeff, Carol Graves, Bryan, Kelsey Cohen, John, Denise Howard, Linda Adams, Chuck Burton and Edna Lucas. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
