With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Janice Sue Murphy (Georgetown, Kentucky), who passed away on April 6, 2024 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband John Wesley Murphy; her parents, Clarence Gaines and Helen Cora Lawson Gaines; her daughter Debra Sue Murphy; and her brother Ronnie Gaines.

She is survived by: her children, Johnny A. "Pete" Murphy, Wesley Murphy (Kim), Daryl Gene Murphy (Geobana), Clarence Luther Murphy (Jessica), Richmond and Diane Short of Rusk, TX; her siblings, Bill Gaines, Barbara Murphy and Betty Gaines McKinney (Ronnie); and her grandchildren, Kristen Jakeway (Jay), Sara Michelle Murphy, MaKayla Faith Murphy, Taggert Neal Murphy, Joy Nicole Jones (Carlos), Janie Sue Murphy, Joe Terry Estepp, Kelly Sue Short, Jonathan Wayne Short (Kylie) and Calvin James Short (Nicole). She is also survived by 26 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
