He was predeceased by: his parents, Murial Grace and Albert Edward Smith; his son Terrance Smith; his son-in-law L. D. Anglin; and his sisters, Margaret Hawes, Annabell McLean and Hilda Floyd.

He is survived by: his wife Susan Torosian Smith; his daughter Christine Anglin; his daughter-in-law Alison Smith; and his siblings, Allen Smith, Joan Shepherd, Mary McGrath and Florence Allen. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
