He was predeceased by: his parents, Wallace Courtney and Betty Lynam Courtney; and his brothers, Eugene Courtney and Wallace Courtney, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Wilma LaFawn Christian Courtney; his sons, Edwin Jody Courtney (Vicki Lynn), Jefferson Davis Courtney (Jackie) and John Thomas Courtney (Dena); and his brother-in-law Joe Christian (Rhonda). He is also survived by ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren.
