He was predeceased by: his parents, Grace Wheeler Olinger and George Haynes. He is survived by: his wife Lucy Jackson Wheeler; his children, Gloria McKnight (Cleon) and Dominique Groves; and his siblings, Johnnie Haynes, Georgia Polk, Lela Hall, Frances Booth, Yourlinda White and Jessie Haynes. He is also survived by four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
